MYSTIC MOON

After so much anticipation to share this with you loves, I finally present to you, MYSTIC MOON, our 2012 winter collection.  Please play the music along with it if you so desire.  To view full screen, press the play button in the center of the lookbook.  (You must play the music player first though if you want to enjoy that with it).  We would love to hear what you think, so let us know in the comments below when your done!  So much time and love went into this project, and each of the artists you see on the sidebar have done their share to make this baby come to life.  Take a moment to visit our 'Meet The Artists' page to visit everyone's shops and social sites.  You may find some new loves you have not seen before.  Also, we have changed our charity this season to Sevenly.  I love what this company does with their weekly causes, and I think you might too.  The best part is that they support a new charity each week, and all of them are super worthy causes.  Take some time to poke around the blog and see all of the new changes...  In a few days, we will also have a pin page available where you can pin all of the images from our new lookbook, including the ones that were cut!  Enjoy!

MYSTIC MOON // OPENING CREDITS

Tomorrow is the release of our new lookbook for winter, Mystic Moon!  I'm so excited launch this one, as we fall into a new moon phase, and a new season.  Once again, this was a true labor of love to bring all of these artisans together to create this magical lookbook.  It's been such an honor to work with such talented people.  Some days it still seems like a dream that this project is even happening.  A huge thank you to each and every one of you who made this dream come true!  All of the artists who took the time to create original works for this, our amazing photographer Katelyn for traveling all the way from Louisiana to photograph it, Kelly Ann for donating so much time to making this space so beautiful and stellar, our amazingly beautiful friend and model Gina for her presence in the lookbook and to my hubby who helped us so much the day of the shoot.  And of course, all of our readers who have been encouraging us along the way via the blog and facebook.  You guys are ultimately what make this baby come alive.  And to all of my family and friends who have been so supportive of me even though I have been a hermit for so long working on this project!  Thank you for loving me through it!

AUTUMN MOON LOOKBOOK

Im so excited to bring you the new Bohemian Collective lookbook, Autumn Moon.  The images above are just a few final sneak peeks before you dive into the whole collection.  The creation of this baby has been a wild ride of pleasure and pain, culminating in a lookbook I am truly proud of.  I couldn't of done this without the help of my friend Katelyn Demidow, who photographed and edited all of the images you see, as well as helping me along the way when I most needed it.  She captured some of the most dreamy pieces of soul...

All of the artisans in this collection are simply amazing creatives, with such quality skill, intriguing visions and hearts of gold.  As you flip through the lookbook, you will find links to each artist made piece throughout the collection.  You can click on the lookbook cover image on the sidebar, or the link at the top, to view the lookbook at any time.  Kelly Ann has added a new dreamy collection of tunes to listen to while you browse, so you might want to scroll to the bottom of the page first and play the music while you view.  

We are once again contributing our extra pennies to To Write Love On Her Arms through our donation page.  If you are not familiar with this, please read our Mission Statement and view our Donation Page to find out more!  Any donations are much appreciated.  Just so you know, not a penny goes to us, it goes directly to this awesome organization to help others in need.  We are just here as a catalyst to inspire you to do so.  Im so happy to say we have raised over $500 for this cause, so lets make it grow, even $1 at a time!

A NEW BEGINNING

My heart has been brainstorming, and reassessing this creative space here at The Bohemian Collective.  When I first created the seed of this space, a blog was not even in the picture.  The original idea stemmed from my lifelong longing of wanting to own a shop where I showcased artwork from all of my favorite designers in one place.  Through watching my own artistic endevours grow in an online community, I realized I could find a way to do this virtually.  The more I pondered on that idea, I realized I did not really want it to be a marketplace, but more of a creative extension of our collective works... So I combined my love for creative photography and amazing artists, into a seasonal lookbook idea.  That was the seed of this here blog.  The simple original idea to bring together a bunch of like minded creative souls, and show off our work in collections of photoshoots...

As the project evolved, and I realized it was becoming the real deal, ideas grew and expanded, naturally, as most creative works do.  I got the crazy idea that we could actually do some good, and some how give back to our community in a tangible way.  This idea became our donation idea.  Each season we would pick an organization we believed in, who was doing loving work in this world, and we chose To Write Love On Her Arms.  As all of these ideas flowed through my mind, I realized there needed to be a homepage, to organize and showcase all of this work, which in turn became this beautiful blog designed by Kelly Ann of The Flowerchild Dwelling.  

I was so involved in creating the lookbook and working on creating the blog, that the actual content of this blog was an afterthought.  Actually, right after the launch of the first lookbook, I quickly realized.... I needed to decide what I was going to put into this space besides just our lookbooks.  I decided I wanted to keep it going with the creative artistic bohemian vibe, along with sharing posts about awareness and hope, correlating to the organization we chose to donate to.  I have found over the past few months this blog has been alive, that going back and forth between these two extremes has been very difficult for me, and Ive only posted one actual post towards the latter, more important goal.  So... this is where I have come to now.  You are witnessing me brainstorm as I type.  You are witnessing an evolution of this space that does not yet have a voice or a face.  But is yearning to be seen.  

As I prepare the next lookbook, which is due to be launched tentatively on August 15th, I will be integrating some new daydreams here in this space.  Im hoping it will be more collaborative, with other voices spreading their love here as well.  The intention and focus will be on sharing more of the beautiful bohemian fashion and photography, and moodboards you have seen here before... Along with posts about soulful life journeys, body nourishment, sacred healing, music muses and most of all, love and light.  

Thank you for coming along this journey with me.  Sometimes the beautiful thing about a journey is that we dont know where we are headed, or where we will end up.  But it is up to us to keep dreaming, keep believing and keep sharing.  This is what I intend to do here.  Let's grow and change together.

I want to say thank you so much to everyone who has left such wonderful feedback so far.  There are only a few comments that were left here on the blog, but my facebook was flooded with wonderful words from such sweet people!  Im humbled by all of your generosity towards this project; it means so much to me.  

The central focus of this blog is to bring you seasonal lookbooks with collections of different artists work each season.  As well as, of course, spark a community of giving through our donation page benefiting To Write Love On Her Arms.  (Please know this money goes directly to TWLOHA, not us).  But I cant wait to see where this space will grow to.  I am still in the process of developing content for this space since all my focus lately has gone into just creating the lookbook and blog.  But I would ultimately love for this to be a space you can check back on regularly to find posts that inspire you, either creatively or emotionally.  Sort of a space that shows how many times as artists we use the pain in our lives to fuel the things we create.  Of course not all art is made this way... but Id love to have some focus on how we can create beauty out of some of the hardest things in this world.  (dont worry, this wont be a place of sorrow at all)  I just want to go beyond the 'pretty blog with pretty pictures'...  So, those of you who are joining us from the very beginning, get to watch us expand into whatever we may become!  Im so excited to take this new journey.

Hello, hello!  This is Laura from Roots and Feathers...  Im so excited to share this dream of mine with you today.  Since I was about 14 years old, Ive dreamt about owning a boutique featuring all of my favorite artists work.  As I have grown my own businesses online over the past few years, that dream has flown with the wind.  But the idea has never stopped haunting me.  About two months ago, I was laying in bed trying to fall asleep, and it all flooded in.  I decided that night I wanted to create a project online featuring many of my favorite artists.  And from there, this seed was planted.  My brain instantly started turning and turning, and it grew from just a little collaborative lookbook, into this beautiful blog, designed by Kelly Ann of The Flowerchild Dwelling.  For some time now, I have also been putting my thoughts out in the universe on how I can help in some small (or big) way.  I dont have alot of money to give away, just as I know most of you dont... but I thought if we could all get fired up and inspired about something, we could do it together, in small amounts, to make a big difference!  Every artist you see in this community has donated their work and time to contribute to this cause.  We would be honored if you shared in the love and donated even $1 (or more if you can).  Visit our mission and donation pages to find out more about where your money will go, its a beautiful thing!
